Firstly, John and I and the team at the Churchmouse would like to wish you a Very Happy New Year!

In 2017 Churchmouse has been busy, not because of the weather, but we are getting well known in the area for our service, food and amenities. We are grateful to all our loyal customers who support us whatever the weather! Thank you.

Our Friday Bistro’s are going from strength to strength and the food and service levels are the best yet. Please do come and join us on a Friday night – we love serving and looking after you all.

We have some exciting plans for 2018 and will let you know what is happening in due course. However some dates for your diary:

Wednesday 10th January – we would like to invite you all to a “Soiree at the Churchmouse” A free cup of tea/coffee with nibbles is available to all. Take your time looking round the store to see what we have to offer. 4 – 6.30pm

Saturday 20th January – Fundraiser for St Barts Church, Barbon. We are having a fundraiser in the café which includes a raffle and an Auction of Promises. £12.50 per ticket which includes 4 cheeses, 4 wines and chutney. Hosted by the Cheeseman himself. Will be great fun! 7 – 10pm. Need to book. All proceeds to Church.

Saturday 17th February – Dark Skies Event. The Yorkshire Dales National Park remains one of the darkest places in England and we are excited to celebrate this with our Dark Skies event. The evening will start with a glass of mulled wine whilst you settle in. We have the pleasure of welcoming Stuart Atkinson, lifelong amateur astronomer based in Kendal. who will give an hour-long illustrated talk about basic stargazing – no prior knowledge or experience needed. You will then head outside to see the real thing with Stuart pointing out the stars and constellations featured in his talk. Then, back inside to take a look at some of his personal collection of rare and valuable meteorites, and answer questions before the evening ends. 7 – 10 pm.

Tickets are £10 per person and include a glass of Mulled Wine and the following tapas: Homemade Hummus, Crushed Pea and Mint dip with sesame breadsticks and carrot sticks (v) Yorkshire Picante Chorizo in red wine with crunchy bread for dipping
Cumbrian Serrano Ham wrapped Pears, with Goats cheese
Yorkshire Blue, Crackers and Claire’s Handmade Chutney (v)
Places are limited to 40, so please book quickly.

Saturday 24th March – William Firth Event  – Woodturner. Come along and listen to this young entrepreneur from Scorton, near Lancaster, tell his story so far. Tickets are £10 per head and include a glass of wine and tapas. Places are limited to 30, so please book quickly. 7 – 9.30 pm
