A Wedding Cheese Cake suitable for 160 to 180 guests.
Bottom level – Carron Lodge Mature Cheddar Wheel. Nice and tangy large wheel of farmhouse matured Cheddar from Inglewhite near Preston. 32cm diameter
Next Level – Cornish Yarg, the famous nettle-covered cheese made by the Gray family, smooth and creamy. Looks fabulous on The Grand with the pattern of the nettle leaves really standing out! 27 cm diameter.
Next Level – Blacksticks Blue. Another great looking (and of course tasting!) cheese due to it’s splendid orange colour. This is a creamy Blue Lancashire cheese from Butlers of Inglewhite. Not a strong, off-putting blue taste, one of the most frequent things I hear people saying about this cheese is “I love it – and I don’t like blue cheese!” Now, that’s the kind of blue you need when you’re trying to appeal to a broad cross section of people at a wedding. 23 cm diameter
Next level – Wensleydale with Cranberries. The crunch and sweetness of the cranberries makes this a perennial favourite – loved by children! 21 cm diameter
Next level – Cumberland Oak Smoked. Handmade in Thursby, Cumbria by mother and daughter Carolyn & Leonie Fairburn. This gives the cake real range, with a strong, tasty cheese as its base for all to enjoy, then a nettle covered one, followed by a blue, then a fruity one – the smokiness of the Cumberland Oak Smoked is the perfect way to round off this selection (except of course for the little goat’s cheese that tops the whole thing off…) 16 cm diameter
Top Level – Tovey. A small but perfectly formed little round of unpasteurised, handmade Cumbrian goat’s cheese to finish the cake off with! 11 cm diameter
Price includes delivery and decorations. We’ll even throw you in two Heart Shaped Bries for good measure to finish the whole thing off!
With regards the decorations, I usually go with a mix of whatever is in season, some fruit to enjoy with the cheese and some simply because it looks good! This selection will typically contain red & green grapes, figs, physallis, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, sharon fruit, lychees and lemon thyme sprigs for decorating together with a packet of pumpkin seeds for drizzling round the base of the cake.
